Discover the history and horticulture of Fort Tryon Park. Every Sunday from April through October, a member of the Fort Tryon Park horticultural staff conducts a FREE walking tour of Fort Tryon Park. Learn about John D. Rockefeller, Jr.'s most generous gift to New York City and about the Olmsted Brothers creative genius. All tours include the Heather Garden and, on the first Sunday of the month, tours also include the newly restored Alpine Garden.
Limited Accessibility: Some of Fort Tryon Park tours are fully accessible, while others involve steep paths, like tours that include the Alpine Garden. Persons with mobility issues who cannot navigate steps or steep ramps may wish participate in the Heather Garden portion of the tours. As we understand that accessibility issues can differ from person to person, our tour guide can address specific concerns prior to the tour. For more questions on accessibility issues regarding Fort Tryon Tours, please contact us at 212.795.1388 ext. 304 or by e-mail at info@FortTryonParkTrust.org and write "Accessibility" on the subject line.
