Scarecrow Contest
Saturday, October 30, 2010
12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Thank you to all participants in the 2010 Scarecrow Contest. We look forward to seeing your artistry and creativity again next year! Please check for 2011 details next fall.
The third annual Scarecrow Design Competition celebrated the spirit of the fall harvest season and creative expression! On Saturday, October 30, 2010 the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation displayed up to 200 scarecrows constructed by groups of all ages at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park (just north of 72nd Street Transverse by the Lake and the Boathouse Restaurant).
Four categories differentiated groups by age: elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and adults. A panel of judges awarded first, second, and third place prizes in each category. Grand prize in each category was $200. Winning scarecrows will be displayed after the event in the Arsenal Gallery, the only municipally-run gallery in New York City.
