Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) Requests
A Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request is a request to obtain records/documents from New York State or local government agencies. Records that are determined to be responsive and disclosable are, to the extent possible, made available to you within twenty (20) business days after receipt of your request. More time may be required if a request is complex or if the records sought are voluminous.
A request for records must be in writing, detailing the type, subject matter and date(s) of the records requested. Describe the records you are seeking as specifically as possible, including as much of the following as possible:
- The title(s) of documents.
- File designations.
- Any other information that will enable the Records Access Officer to identify the record(s) you are requesting.
Please include a daytime phone number, in case the Records Access Officer has any questions about your request.
NYC Parks may charge fees for copying records as follows:
- 25 cents per page, or
- Actual cost of reproduction
Sending a Request
FOIL requests should be forwarded to the Records Access Officer either by mail, fax, or email.
