First Saturdays of every month. Members of The New York Baroque Dance Company teach classes covering dance forms found in dance suites of the late 17th and 18th centuries. Live music accompanies every class. No previous experience required. This class is open to professional dancers, teachers, students, musicians, singers, actors, and dance enthusiasts. Expand your circle of friends as you meet new people and learn the proper way to offer a hand during the minuet or how to cut a caper in the jig!

A kinder, gentler aerobic workout appropriate for older adults, beginning exercise participants and pre/post-natal women who would like to include a low-intensity, low-impact workout in their fitness plans. Each class includes an aerobic conditioning and stretching segment. Music for this class may include big band, classical, swing, country and oldies but goodies.

Adaptive Sports Program (S.P.A.R.E.S.)


Al Oerter Recreation Center, 131-40 Fowler Avenue, Queens

Come learn the basics of adaptive sports such as: Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Football, Wheelchair tennis, Wheelchair Floor Hockey, Wheelchair Softball, Sled Hockey(on ice), Sitting Volleyball, Adapted Swimming, Power Wheelchair Soccer, Track and Field Events.

 Wheelchairs are provided for use in the program.

For Ages 5 and Up with a physical disability.

Must register for the program and must be a Recreation Center member.

Adapted Aquatics exercise offers a complete body workout and ranges from gentle walking in water to high-energy exercise; it helps alleviate pain, improve circulation, and promote healing and muscle development for those suffering from physical ailments resulting from injury, disease, or aging.
