The dance and music from this extremely complex and resilient country are rich with stories of perseverance, love, war and the connections/disconnections all human beings share with their environment. Pilates is based on a series of core-strengthening exercises created by Joseph Pilates. These exercises use muscle control, breathing techniques, imagery and postural alignment to strengthen the entire body. The beginning Pilates Mat class is a thoughtful, non-threatening approach to these exercises and other movement. There is an emphasis on range of motion, as well as intensive work on abdominal muscles.
